Hi folks,
Nottingham today for the annual East Midlands Dance Competition. It was an early start in Northampton this morning after getting back from London late last night. Normally, for this competition, we come up on the Saturday evening and stop over but having booked to see Michael Flatley in his last Lord of the Dance at the London Palladium last night we couldn't do that this weekend.
Our only Fowler/Timms interest today is Emelia as Josie and Lucy aren't competing. It's going to be a slow start as the timetable shows that Emy's first heat isn't until 11:50am. Often they run ahead of schedule so after this morning's earlier heats we would expect Emy to actually be first up at about 11:15am ...YAWN!!. Today Emy is competing in Choreographed Solos (Solos), Choeographed Pairs (Pairs), Open Choroegraphy Pairs (OC Pairs), Latin and Groups.
As usual I'll put the latest entries in at the top so you don't have to keep scrolling to the bottom of the screen and set up an auto-refresh on the web page so just leave your browser open and on the blog page and let your computer/tablet do the rest.
17:30 Starlights awards for the Groups are:
Baby Groups (I forgot about this one): 1st
Junior Groups: No entry
Inter Groups: 3rd
Senior Groups: None

17:00 Quick change and a run through and it's into The Charleston which is the Latin routine. That was fun - it brought big smiles to everyone's faces.

16:50 Well that was frantic! The CD for Disturbed Orphanage wouldn't play so they had to find a copy on one of the Starlights teachers' phones and cobble it up to the PA system. It so nearly didn't happen. Anyhow, the first performance of Disturbed Orphanage went very well in the end.

15:45 Getting through the OC Pairs sections was very quick. The Starlights awards are:
Baby OC Pairs: 2nd - Ella Marsh & Cydnee Mae Sherman, 3rd - Imogen Corby & Maya Crouch, 4th - Tilly Avery & Hattie Avery
Junior OC Pairs: None
Inter OC Pairs: 3rd - Tayla Jade Sherman & Nadiyah Namruti
Senior OC Pairs: 3rd - Ellie Rose Green & Caris Dobin
Starlights are competing in both Inter and Senior Groups today (the Senior Group dance being the Latin dance I mentioned earlier). Many of the girls - Emy included - are dancing in both Group sections so it's all hands to the pumps now to get the girls ready for their first round of heats.

Junior Pairs 9/10yr: None
Emy and her partner, Jenna Churchman, have just danced in the Inter Pairs 11/12yr. Looked good but if I'd seen them before their dance I'd have cleaned up a few bits.... Anyhow, fingers crossed for a call back to the 2nd heat.

That's the best result Emy's had at any of the competitions we've done over the past 5 years. She's so pleased and I'm so proud. It makes putting in all the work to get ready for these competions worth while - almost!
It's lunch break now. We're due to start the Pairs categories with the Baby and Junior Pairs heats and awards at 1:30pm.
12:12 We're going through the 11-15yr Inter and Senior Solo heats right now, then it's on to the awards.
11:45 Emy's just danced - she was called back for all 3 heats which she had to dance one after the other with almost no break between them. Fingers crossed for the awards.
